Check Presented to Friends of Shanklin

On September 13th, a check in the amount of $12,600 was presented to Rick McGill, President of Friends of Shanklin and Elizabeth Rivera, Principal of Shanklin Elementary School. Also present were members of 100 Women Who Care Beaufort and members of Friends of Shanklin who joined in the celebration outside of the school in front of their lighthouse.

Friends of Shanklin’s mission is to provide both financial and human resource support to the Joseph S. Shanklin Elementary School. Their goals are to:

  • Advance students’ educational capabilities and leadership skills
  • Facilitate a positive learning environment
  • Foster a collective community of people who care by working together with Shanklin parents, teachers, adminstrators, and PTO.

The first donation of 2019 goes to Circle of Hope Ministries

Several members of 100 Women Who Care Beaufort showed up on a beautiful February day here in the Lowcountry to present the check to Reverend John Dortch. He graciously offered them a tour of their new transient housing facility to assist homeless veterans in Northern Beaufort County, South Carolina. Link to more pictures.
