Born to Read received $13,325 in July to promote early childhood literacy and development. This organization is the first agency to visit new parents and their babies in the hospital at birth. Volunteers discuss the important role parents have as the child’s first and most important teacher. They give the parents books and pamphlets to support this venture.

What a great night we had…eight new members, three fantastic and passionate presentations, one very worthy recipient of our collective giving, AND we did it all in
LESS than one hour. WOW!!
To all present, I know that you felt the energy in the room. And to those of you who were not able to join us, we missed you. It was a good night and when our totals come in, we will exceed $200,000 that has been given to fourteen non-profit organizations in Northern Beaufort County over the last 3 ½ years. That is definitely #thepowerof100.

Friends of Caroline Hospice, a Beaufort non-profit that provides quality-of-life care for those near the end of life’s journey as well as support for family and friends, received 100 Women Who Care Beaufort’s first donation of 2018, totaling $13,150.
A letter from Founder and Leader Jeneane Ryan:
“Dear women of 100WWC,
As we begin our fourth year, I want to express my gratitude to all of you for being a part of 100WWC Beaufort and for making it such a success. It is because of you and your commitment that we are still thriving and even have EIGHT new members to add to our roster as of last night.
For those of you who were able to attend, we heard three women speak passionately about the organizations that are near and dear to their hearts.
Linda Thompson spoke of Friends of Caroline Hospice and the work that they do at no cost to their clients. Dottie Morin shared with us the mission of Born to Read and Janet Gregory told us about what is happening at USBC’s Center for the Arts.
Please take a moment to learn more about all three of these worthy organizations.
Our members voted and chose Friends of Caroline Hospice as the recipient of our first quarter giving for 2018.

A note from our Founder Jeneane Ryan:
Congratulations to the 100+ wonderful women of 100WWC Beaufort. Before last night we provided $161,000 to eleven worthy local non profit organizations in Northern Beaufort County. Our group is strong and growing with 5 new members last night and almost 400 “Likes” on FB (I am sure that is some measure of success!). Bottom line, we are continuing to get the word out and sharing what takes place every quarter in the basement of the Education Building of First Presbyterian Church in Beaufort.
Thank you again everyone for a great three years. I look forward to seeing you in January.
At the fourth and final meeting of 2017, the members of 100 Women Who Care Beaufort selected Penn Center’s PACE Program as the recipient of their last donation of the year. The Mission of the PACE Program is to offer an extended education and tutoring program that strengthens children’s academic and cultural awareness.
PACE is more than a childcare facility; it is an after-school education center, dedicated to providing a learning environment that enhances the academic, cultural, physical, social-emotional, cognitive, linguistic and creative development of children. The goal of the program is to build a strong foundation for each child to build upon, leading to a lifetime of educational and personal growth and success.

At the third quarter meeting of 100 Women Who Care on July 11, 2017, HELP of Beaufort was awarded the donation, ultimately totaling $13,600! HELP’s Mission is to “provide emergency assistance to the people of Beaufort County and surrounding areas with specific basic needs.” Services include a food pantry, mobile meals, clothing and financial assistance. Our members also had the chance to hear stories of the lives of animals and their owners who turned to BROKEN TAILS for help and the work that is so selflessly carried out with no funding. We learned more about AMI KIDS and the lives of young men that are being changed…encouragement, hope, a future is finally within reach. We hope that you’ll join us for our final meeting of 2017 on Tuesday, October 10 to learn more about the work that our incredible local non-profits do every day.
What a night! During our busy and informative second-quarter meeting last night, 100 Women Who Care Beaufort voted to award our donation to the YMCA of Beaufort. After a presentation on the annual summer camp conducted by the YMCA for the children of migrant workers, members were asked to allocate their check to either the Migrant Program or the Scholarship Fund. Members also had the opportunity to learn more about the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry from Emmy Rooney, Vice President for Development and Donor Services and to listen to excellent presentations on Broken Tails and AMI Kids. Join us for our next meeting, Tuesday, July 11, 2017!
Join us Tuesday, April 11, 2017 for our second meeting of the year! Beginning in April our meetings will now run from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. Check-in/registration will take place from 5:00 – 5:30 PM with the meeting beginning promptly at 5:30 PM. Presenters will now be allowed 10 minutes (rather than 5) for their presentations and the meetings will end at 6:30 PM.
Visitors and those wanting to join are always welcome (although remember you must be a member to nominate). We recommend that if it’s your first time you arrive at 5:00 pm in order to complete the check-in process and meet some of our members. For more information, visit the Meetings page on our website.

It’s hard to believe that we are entering our third year and yet there’s a trail of generous evidence to prove that it’s true: over the past two years through our collective giving, we have awarded over $117,000 to eight incredible local non-profits. It has been an incredibly rewarding two years during which we have learned much from our members.
Based on feedback from members, we are changing our nomination process in order to ensure that the organizations nominated meet our requirements and to improve the consistency and accuracy of the presentations. The Nomination Form (available on the Nominating section of our website) will now be required at least one week prior to each meeting. It can be e-mailed to 100wwcbeaufort@gmail.com or mailed to P.O. Box 2579, Beaufort, SC 29901.
Please remember that organizations must have a physical address in Northern Beaufort County and must have 501c3 status (or fall under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry). For more information on our nomination process, please visit the Nominating Page on our website.
During their first meeting of 2017, 100 Women Who Care Beaufort selected the Historic Beaufort Foundation to receive their first-quarter donation, ultimately totaling $13,900. The mission of Historic Beaufort Foundation is to “support the preservation, protection and presentation of sites and artifacts of historic, architectural and cultural interest throughout Beaufort County, South Carolina.” The funds will go toward repairing and restoring the John Mark Verdier House, which has been damaged by flooding.
