The concept is elegantly simple. Here is how it works:
- We meet quarterly on the second Tuesday of January, April, July, and October with check-in/registration from 5:00-5:30 PM. Meetings are held in the Education Building (Fellowship Hall) of First Presbyterian Church, Beaufort, located on the corner of North and Church Streets. The meeting will begin at 5:30 PM and ends promptly at 6:30 PM.
- During each meeting, members of 100 WWC can nominate local organizations, charities, or non-profits with 501(c)3 tax-deductible status. Three organizations are randomly selected from the nominations, and each of the three members who nominated them will have ten minutes to present information about their organization and explain why they believe it is worthy of receiving donations.
- At the meeting, members cast secret ballots to vote for the organization they believe should receive the collective donations. The ballots are counted, and the organization with the most votes is selected. For the organizations presented but not chosen, they are automatically allowed to be presented at the next meeting.
- Each member writes a check for $100 to the chosen organization. ALL MEMBERS, including those not in attendance, are expected to donate.
- When all the checks are in (sometimes a few weeks after the meeting), members of 100 WWC present them to the director of the chosen organization. Those directors must agree not to share names or other information about the women of 100 WWC.
